Brave Betty Guinness is fortunately on the mend after her terrifying attack by muggers in broad daylight while returning home on her mobility scooter after enjoying morning coffee in the port.
She is very grateful to fellow Javea U3A members for their support and good wishes.
And she is determined not to let this despicable incident get her down. Betty, who celebrated her 100th birthday earlier this year, has had to deal with the police, banks, insurance etc since she was robbed by a woman, who came up behind her and snatched her bag.
However, Betty will battle on and continue to use her scooter. “It is my freedom pass,” she said. “Many thanks for all the kind and thoughtful people who have written to me. I am so lucky”. The committee of the U3A have sent their good wishes following her ordeal – and have issued a warning to members to be on their alert for such heartless attacks.
