SUMMARY:Talking Art – Der Blaue Reiter
DESCRIPTION:\nDer Blaue Reiter (English: The Blue Rider) is regarded as the second wave of German Expressionism. The artists associated with Der Blaue Reiter were important pioneers of modern art of the 20th century; they formed a loose network of relationships, exhibiting together, but not an art group in the narrower sense like Die Brücke (The Bridge) in Dresden. Although based in Germany the artists associated were from an international background. Members included Wassily Kandinsky, Alexej von Jawlensky and Marianne von Werfkin (Russian), Franz Marc, August Macke and Gabriele Münter (German), Paul Klee (Swiss), Lyonel Feininger (American) and the Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg.
