As the climate warmed the Oak and many other species moved north from Southern Spain and Portugal, but each species moved at a different pace so the landscape evolved gradually. \n\n\n\nWhen the English Channel formed, Britain was cut off from a natural supply of tree species, but the Romans introduced many more. We will also see the impact that mankind has had on our treescapes as we moved towards the industrial revolution and modern times.\n
